This HOWTO document covers the license-information and registration-codes needed by BulletProof FTP Server in order to turn the trial-version into the full-version.
1.2 License-Information and Registration-Codes
BulletProof FTP Server is distributed as a trial/demo version, which allows you unrestricted usage of the software for a given number of days, in order to make sure it works for your needs before purchasing.
Once you purchase the software, you will be sent the license-information in the form of a set of registration-codes. By following the instructions sent with these codes, you can turn your currently installed trial/demo version into the full-fledged retail version; without loosing any of your settings or configuration.
1.3 How Is It Stored?
The license-information is encoded in the registration-codes you are sent via email. Once these codes are entered into the software using the "Activate Registration" applet, the license-information will be stored in a file called bpftpserver.txt. This file MUST be in the same directory as the main-executable for BulletProof FTP Server (bpftpserver.exe).
2.0 Activate Registration
In order to enter the registration-codes for your license-information, you'll need to use the "Activate Registration" applet which was installed on your computer in the Windows Start Menu for the BulletProof FTP Server. This program will create the bpftpserver.txt file and store the registration-codes you were given with your purchase in the appropriate directory.
2.1 Video Help for Activate Registration
For your convenience, we have created a very detailed Video Web-Cast explaining how to use the "Activate Registration" applet.

2.2 Common-Pitfalls: It still says UNREGISTERED
First, please take a deep-breath and don't be frustrated. We've making this software for over 12 years and there are no problems with the registration-codes which are generated and sent to customers who purchased the software.
2.2.1 Re-Read the Instructions
Make sure you have followed the steps you received with your purchase and ran through the "Activate Registration" utility. Please take a moment to review the instructions and correct anything that was not completed.
2.2.2 Watch the Activate Registration Video Web-Cast
Please watch the Video Web-Cast we have created which explains how to use the "Activate Registration" applet.
2.2.3 Registration Codes are Incorrect
The Registration-Codes were not entered ExACtLY as they appear in the email.
- A single incorrect character will create an invalid registration-code.
- Please Copy & Paste the registration code into the software, DO NOT HAND-TYPE the codes into the software, as it's nearly impossible to enter them all correctly.
- Match the Character-Counts, each line in the "Activate Registration" applet will show the number of characters entered into the Line 1, 2, 3 and 4. Make double/triple sure that these match the email you received. If they do not match, correct the problem.
2.2.4 License-File stored in Incorrect Directory
The License-File (bpftpserver.txt) created by the "Activate Registration" applet is not in installation directory.
- You may have multiple copies of BulletProof FTP Server installed on your computer.
Perform a search of your computer for the main-executable for BulletProof FTP Server called bpftpserver.exe. If you have multiple copies, either uninstall the unused copy and re-run the "Activate Registration" applet. Or search for the "bpftpserver.txt" you created in the unused directory and copy/paste it into the correct directory.
